TCE an Essential Service

Following the Government of Ontario announcing that it was taking decisive action by making an order declaring an emergency under s 7.0.1 (1) the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act, agencies that provide support to individuals with developmental disabilities were declared an essential service. 

TCE's employees are essential workers. In order to ensure that our employees were prepared to answer any questions that may be posed by authorities, TCE had individual ID cards made for each person. The picture represented in the photo is the front of the card. The back of the card reads: "Total Communication Environment provides 24/7 residential support to adults with developmental disabilities in Ottawa. Supports can include essential errands such as groceries and appointments. TCE is funded by the Ontario Government and has been deemed an essential service".

The individuals supported and employees at TCE have been so creative despite all of the new challenges that have emerged from the COVID-19 pandemic.
