So the saying goes and I have experienced this many times over the years. When faced with adversity big or small, for one person, a group, an organization or a community, great things can happen when we ask ourselves  ‘What are the opportunities?”

A great example of this is the Special Fund. It was born during a time of belt tightening, zero increases in funding and a need to direct precious resources to cover the basics. Over time, there was less available for the extra support and activities that make a life rich and interesting.  An idea was born to establish a fund for ‘Joy Inducing and Life Enhancing’ pursuits and purchases and to have it supported solely through donations and fundraising. The idea took off and with the enthusiastic and generous support from donors; people living at TCE are having the most amazing life experiences. The Special Fund started out as a creative way to address the financial challenges we were facing and transformed into this positive force which by far has exceeded anyone’s expectations. That’s why I am a ‘glass half full’ kind of person.
