On June 19th Kelly Roper, Program Supervisor, Christine Wilson, past chairperson and one of the founders and myself were invited to Longfields-Davidson Heights Secondary School (LDHSS), by the students of Barb Troutman’s class. We were presented...
with an amazing gift of $353.00 collected by Barb’s students while she was on bereavement leave following the sad, unexpected death of her brother, Doug Fahey, a long-time and much loved resident of Baxter House. They also approached the school’s administration and proposed the establishment of an Annual Award in Doug’s memory. Doug regularly visited Barb’s classes over many years, touching the lives of many students and through his presence, promoting understanding and inclusion. The classroom was decorated in Dougie’s favourite theme, the Hulk and the speech they gave was incredibly moving. They are truly amazing young people inspired by one amazing teacher!
